How To Sew Double Welt Cord

I love the look of double welt to hide upholstery staples. It gives a great tailored look and really is a manageable project. Here are a few ways that you can make it happen.

First off we need to make a continuous bias strip. This is the long piece of fabric, cut on the diagonal, that you will wrap around your cording. 

This is the video from Erin Compton Designs. I use EVERY time, I love it. Plus the music is pretty catchy.

Cut out your square, for this chair I made a 24 inch X 24 inch square and had a little left over.

Cut it in half along the diagonal.

Put the bottom right triangle on the top.

Folded it over, pinned it along the seam.

I made a 1/4 inch seam.

Marked out 2 inch strips. 2 inches is the smallest you want to go with double welt. Any smaller and you won't have enough fabric to wrap around your cord. 

Lined up my seams and sewed them together to make a tube.

Continued marking 2 inch sections and cut along the lines. Tada! Continuous bias strip.

Either way you end up with gorgeous double welt. Now go and hide those staples!

Yesterday I was on a serious mission. A top secret mission. But I will share this mission with you, my dear readers. I was on a mission for a dining room table. {Not for me, for a client}

This dining table has been trying to elude us for months. We ordered one from Restoration Hardware, only to get a call recently that it would be back-ordered for months. So then I found this similar beauty from Noir and got to pay a visit to their LA showroom {they are wholesale and trade only, but if you are interested in their fabulous goodies, call me.}

When we got to the showroom, we found some small details that made this table not-perfect-for-us. But I saw so many fabulous furnishings, I had to share.

I love how unique their pieces are.

I would LOVE a canopy chair in my bedroom, but alas, I think the room is too small and the chair is too big.

This daybed would be so great in a kids room!

I definitely seen this desk of theirs before in fabulous magazines like Elle Decor {they also make a similar dining table and bed.} Kind of perfect for a hip-modern-Spanish-home {which are everywhere in LA.}

The good news? We ended up finding another Restoration Hardware table we like. Please keep your fingers crossed!

Opinions Needed! Should I Follow My Inspiration Or Be Practical?

I have a dilemma. I have this awesome chair just waiting for a new outfit. I could use another chair in the living room, I really like the lines, and it is totally comfortable.

 I know its of shoes but I can't help myself. As soon as I saw it, I pictured this chair with pink fabric and possibly a gold finish. This is the kind of chair that you would never sit on and it wouldn't go with ANYTHING in my house. But just like an impractically gorgeous pair of shoes, I would look at it all day long and just love it. I even have the paint and fabric on hand ready to go. I fantasize about this chair. Also, I don't see it moving on Craigslist... not the right market. 

Now, having said, that I also love this chair. It would go nicely in my house. blah, blah. So help me out. Which one? Practical or impulsive? HELP! Can you see me stomping my foot and whining?

Opinions Needed! Should I Follow My Inspiration Or Be Practical?

I have a dilemma. I have this awesome chair just waiting for a new outfit. I could use another chair in the living room, I really like the lines, and it is totally comfortable. 

So here is my dilemma. I stumbled across this picture posted by my friend Tammy at Beatrice Banks a few weeks ago.

 I know its of shoes but I can't help myself. As soon as I saw it, I pictured this chair with pink fabric and possibly a gold finish. This is the kind of chair that you would never sit on and it wouldn't go with ANYTHING in my house.
