365: #013 Button Necklace

 I recently became one of the sole proprietaries of an estate. Okay, sort of. It's a really long story, but part of that story is that I found myself with hundreds of antique buttons, all dusty and covered in decades of nicotine. They needed a good wash, and a good wash they got, before they were decanted into some old ball jars so I could ooh and aah over how pretty they were- see?

There were a few that I selected as favorites, keeping them separate for jewelry projects. The first of which was this necklace, made simply by putting three shank buttons and a little paper flower on a jump ring and adding it to an old chain. I love it!

365: #012 Scrapbooking Catchup

This is a quick one- I finished up Ro's "Doctor" and "Princess" pages with some stickers and some lettering I was able to get my mitts on. The doctor pages talk mostly about her first well-baby visit and her vaccinations, the Aurora page talks about her insatiable obsession with the princess Aurora and all the pinky pinkness that comes with it. I apologize for the creepy Wicked Witch of the West baby doll thing going on in the images below. Ro happened to toss her under the bus just as I was setting the scrapbook down to take photos. Whoops!

365: #011 Little Deities

In December of 2006 we held a dedication service for Ro in the back yard of her godfather's house. I didn't want to do a church baptism for her because we aren't religious, yet something was tugging at me to do some kind of something. I decided after much deliberation to dedicate her to the Goddess Eostre, who no one is really sure if she ever existed as a legitimate deity within Germanic cultures or not, but even if she didn't the idea of her is nice. She represents springtime, and morning, and soft weather, and flowers, and all things bright and pretty and gentle. I've had this little printed out picture of Thalia Took's drawing of Eostre for some time now. I never knew what I was going to do with it until I wound up with this lid from a Danskin box of ballet gear...

I'm not satisfied with the way it came out- the intention for it to be a little something of a light catcher, a little something of a shrine, a little something of a wreath, but now, a day after I've made it, I'm realizing what it really wants for is lots of flowers- those little satin rosettes won't do. It wants to be bursting with springtime goodness. This is a project which will have to be revisited. 

365: #011 Little Deities

365: Crafty Update

It's been 23 days since I started the 365 challenge and I've only done 10 projects. That's not bad for how much of a procrastinator I am, but really, it's not great. That means I have 13 projects to catch up on, so I really need to get my butt back in gear, and if you notice double or triple craft posts in a day, that's why. Really, I need to do this for my sanity and reclaim my office. The whole place has been so taken over by crafting, sewing and art supplies that there's no room to work. I've been doing all my working on the sofa in the bay window. It's like my "other" office. Only squishier. A sofa-office. A soffice.

So from my soffice I'm going to stare into my office-office and try to make a list of projects that clearly need to be taken care of in order to clear up some space. 'Cause I can see it from here, and folks, it is not pretty.

• American Girls Doll Clothes.
• Molly's Body.
• Herringbone Purses.
• Straw Purse Lining.
• Altered Books.
• Pajama Bottoms (and Tops?) for Ro.
• Sundresses for Ro.

• Etc. (Who knows what I'll unearth!)
