You likely would have smiled when you saw me proudly carry
the large bowling trophy through the thrift store.
You would have wondered if I wanted it as a gag gift,
or maybe an accessory in a boy's room.
Perhaps you thought that I would enjoy installing
the handsome brass man as a hood ornament on my car.
Or possibly you had the same vision
and were envious that one dollar would buy
a beautiful brass loving cup.
A perfect addition to my small collection.
And of course the bottom of the trophy will make
an awesome flag stand for the fourth of July.
