4 Ways to Strengthen Family Bonds Over the Holidays
The holidays are great times to strengthen family bonds. Families have more time off during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, giving most of us more “quality time” to spend getting to know and understand each other better.
Although we feel we know everything there is to know about our spouse and children, each day we find there is more to them than meets the eye.
Each of us must admit that experiences change us every day, and as we change our personality evolves.
Therefore, we must constantly seek to understand our steadily changing loved ones.
Great Ways to Spend Quality Holiday Family Time
1. APOLOGIZE
Holidays are the perfect time to apologize to those special people in your life and admit that you were wrong for something that has been constantly resurfacing as an issue. Apologize even if you don’t feel that you were the one who was at fault in the situation. Simply apologize for the misunderstanding and make an attempt to resolve the issue.
2. SURPRISE GIFTS
Holidays are the perfect time to buy gifts for your family and friends for no special reason. When you are in the wrong and everyone knows it; that is a great time to buy surprise gifts. For those who hate to apologize; it’s like saying “I’m sorry” without the embarrassment, but with praise instead.
3. Say CHEEZE!
Holidays are the perfect time to go to special holiday dinners or events with your family, and present a happy image as a team. Just like the old saying “Smile for the camera,” all eyes are on you and your entire family. Therefore, it is easy to express more love and affection towards each other.
4. QUALITY TIME
Holidays are the perfect time to play fun family games instead of everyone going different directions in the house. Pull out the Scrabble or card game. Go and get the Monopoly or the Chess board, or whatever game you enjoy playing with your family.
Even if you simply go to a local musical, or have family night at the movies, spend your holiday time enjoying your family.
It is times like these that can never be replaced.
